Maverick is back! Tom Cruise published the first picture from Top Gun 2!

Tom Cruise shared on his Twitter account the first picture from the upcoming "Top Gun: Maverick", the sequel of the 1986 blockbuster "Top Gun".

In the picture we can see Lieutenant Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in a flight suit holding his old "Maverick" inscribed helmet and looking towards an F/A-18 Super Hornet.

It seems that the Super Hornet takes the place of the F-14A Tomcat as the new star of the movie and not the F-35 as probably many fans expected when the sequel was announced back in 2010.

Across the photo we can read "FEEL THE NEED" reminding of the iconic quote by Maverick and Goose from the prequel: "I feel the need... the need for speed!".

Along with the photo, Tom tweeted "#Day1", meaning that the production on the film officially started on May 30.

Top Gun: Maverick will be released on July 12, 2019 by Paramount Pictures, and, to the delight of fans, Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer will reprize their roles.
