Mitsubishi Type 89 IFV is a Japanese tracked infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) in service with the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) since 1989.
A total of 68 Type 89 infantry fighting vehicles were manufactured between 1989 and 2004 by Komatsu Limited and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
Type 89 IFV entered service with JGSDF in 1989, and by 1999, the Japanese Army had in inventory 58 Type 89 vehicles.
A total of 300 Type 89 IFVs are planned for the Japanese Ground Forces.
Mitsubishi Type 89 IFV has a mass of 26.5 tonnes and measures 6.8 m in length and 3.2 m in width, with a standard height of 2.5 m and an overall height of 2.75 m.
It can accommodate up to ten (10) persons including a crew of three (3) and seven (7) troops.

It uses a torsion bar suspension, has an operational range of 400 km, and can reach a maximum speed of 70 km/h on road.
