T-14 Armata is a next-generation Russian main battle tank developed for the Russian Army and export customers.

T-14 Armata like the T-15 Armata heavy IFV and the 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV self-propelled artillery is based on the new Armata Universal Combat Platform.

T-14 Armata main battle tank was designed by Ural Design Bureau of Transport Machine-Building, a subsidiary of Uralvagonzavod.

With a unit cost of $3.7 million, till present, more than 20 T-14 Armata tanks have been produced by Uralvagonzavod starting with 2015.

Initially, a total of 2,300 T-14s were planned to be acquired by the Russian Army between 2015 and 2020.

But the production has been delayed and a first test batch of 100 T-14 MBTs is expected for delivery in 2020 or in the immediately following years.

The T-14 Armata has a mass of 55 tonnes, a length of 8.7 m (29 ft), a width of 3.5 m (11 ft) and a height of 3.3 m (11 ft).

It has a crew of three (3) persons seated entirely in an armoured capsule in the front of the hull.

The new T-14 Armata is one of the well-protected tanks in the world.

T-14 Armata has a 125 mm (4.92 in) 2A82-1M smoothbore gun with a total of 45 rounds of which 32 are in the autoloader.

It is planned that future versions will have a 152 mm 2A83 smoothbore cannon.

As secondary armament, T-14 is equipped with a 12.7 mm (0.50 in) Kord 6P49 heavy machine gun and a 7.62 mm (0.30 in) PKTM 6P7? machine gun.

The T-14 MBT is powered by a 1,500 to 2,000 hp diesel engine coupled to a 12-speed automatic gearbox.

The new Russian main battle tank has a power-to-weight ratio of 31 hp/tonne.

T-14 Armata has a minimum operational range of 500 kilometres (310 mi) and is able to reach an estimated maximum speed of 80 to 90 km/h (50 to 56 mph).
