Admiral Gorshkov class (Project 22350) is a new generation of Russian frigates with stealth characteristics built for the Russian Navy.

The official Russian designation for the Admiral Gorshkov-class is Project 22350, the new warship being designed by Severnoye Design Bureau of Saint Petersburg.

A total of 15 Admiral Gorshkov frigates are planned to be built by Severnaya Verf in Saint Petersburg.

Admiral Gorshkov class (Project 22350) frigates displacement and dimensions

Admiral Gorshkov is a guided missile frigate with a standard displacement of 4,500 tons and a full displacement of 5,400 tons.

Gorshkov frigates have a length of 135 m (443 ft), a beam of 16 m (52 ft) and a draught of 4.5 m (15 ft).

Propulsion of the Admiral Gorshkov-class frigates

Admiral Gorshkov-class frigates use a CODAG type of naval propulsion.

Having two shafts, Admiral Gorshkov is powered by two 10D49 cruise diesel engines each developing 5,200 shp (3,900 kW) and by two M90FR boost gas turbines each rated at 27,500 shp (20,500 kW).

The total installe power is 65,400 shp (48,800 kW).

Speed and range of the Admiral Gorshkov-class frigates

Admiral Gorshkov frigate has a maximum speed of 29.5 knots (54.6 km/h; 33.9 mph).

The maximum range of the ship is 4,850 nautical miles (8,980 km; 5,580 mi) achievable at a constant speed of 14 knots (26 km/h; 16 mph).

The new russian warship has an endurance of 30 days.

The complement of Admiral Gorshkov is made up of 210 persons.

The sensors and the processing systems installed aboard the Admiral Gorshkov frigates

Admiral Gorshkov is equipped with advanced radars and processing systems including two air search radars and a surface search radar.

The air search radars are a Furke-4 5P-27 main radar used for detection, tracking and targeting of air and surface targets, and a Poliment 5P-20K 4 faced active phased array management radar with the role of searching, tracking and guidance.

The air search radars are complemented by the Monolit 34K1 surface search radar.

Gorshkov is also fitted with the Puma 5P-10 main artillery radar fire control system.

It has two sonars, a Zarya M sonar and another Vinyetka towed array sonar.

For navigation it uses three Pal-N radars and is also fitted with the Vigstar Centaurus-NM communication system.

Admiral Gorshkov uses the Russian Sigma/Sigma 22350 combat management system.

Electronic warfare and decoys installed on Admiral Gorshkov frigates

Admiral Gorshkov frigates are equipped with the Prosvet-M electronic warfare suite.

The countermesures systems installed onboard include two PU KT-308, eight PU KT-216 and two 5P-42 Filin.

Armament of the Admiral Gorshkov

The main gun used by the Admiral Gorshkov frigate is the 130 mm Amethyst/Arsenal A-192M naval gun.

Two Palash CIWS and two 14.5 mm MTPU pedestal machine guns are also fitted aboard Gorshkov frigates.

Admiral Gorshkov frigates are equipped with two vertical launch system (VLS) units but the number of cells varies depending on the ship.

As standard Gorshkov frigates have a 16-cell (2 × 8) UKSK VLS for Kalibr, Oniks or Zircon anti-ship cruise missiles.

Admiral Amelko, Admiral Chichagov, Admiral Yumashev and Admiral Spiridonov units have either a 24-cell (3 × 8) UKSK VLS or a 32-cell (2 × 16) UKSK VLS for the same Kalibr, Oniks or Zircon missiles.

Besides the UKSK vertical launch system, Admiral Gorshkov frigates are well also equipped for aerial warfare.

Admiral Gorshkov warships are also fitted with a 32-cell (2 × 16) Redut VLS for 9M96, 9M96M, 9M96D/9M96DM(M2) and/or quad-packed 9M100 surface-to-air missiles.

The new Russian frigates also have two qvadruple 330 mm torpedo tubes for Paket-NK anti-torpedo and anti-submarine torpedoes.

The Admiral Gorshkov frigate has a hangar and a helipad in order to operate one Kamov Ka-27 naval helicopter.
