F-16 Fighting Falcon

The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine multirole fighter aircraft, originally designed as an air superiority day fighter by General Dynamics.

It first flew on 20 January 1974 and entered service on 17 August 1978.

It was the first aircraft to incorporate a fly-by-wire flight control system, thus benefiting of a relaxed static stability, making the F-16 a very agile and maneuverable aircraft. It was also the first aircraft designed to execute maneuvers of 9 g.
